Independence Day celebration in school has often been associated with the idea of understanding the value of independence that we got after decades of struggle. This year the pandemic has changed the way we do several things including celebrating India’s 74th Independence Day. Thus, this year Azim Premji School, Uttarkashi used online platforms to celebrate the day. We organised events that were not limited to our school students but open for the community to participate.

Art, Craft and Essay Writing Festival

First was Art, Craft and Essay Writing Festival open for students from Grade 1 to 12. The initial dead line to submit the work was 31st August. However, looking at the lock down situation we are extending the final date of submission to 31st December, 2020. Naturally, the date of exhibition had to be shifted. We will share the details of the exhibition in the mid of December 2020.

Quiz Marathon

Second was a fortnight Quiz Marathon starting from August 14 to August 31. The quiz was open for any one to participate. The idea of these quizzes is to expand and explore our understanding of Colonial India using themes like Art Movements, Cinema, Clothing, Women Struggle etc. Mostly, colonial India is presented under a single National Movement perspective. In the present effort we are giving recognition to other significant areas of that period. So, welcome you all to participate in the quiz to explore the pre-Independent India.
